About

I have been an obsessive maker since childhood, but didn't have the opportunity to go to art college, (Kent Institute of Art and Design), until I was 40, where I studied ceramics and completed an HND in 3D design. After 24 years making and teaching ceramics my body told me it was time for a change! It was at this time I was fortunate enough to discover needle felting, of which I am a self taught.
So, what is needle felting
It is the process of interlocking wool fibres by repeatedly stabbing it with a special barbed needle. The barbs catch the scales on the fibres and cause them to tangle and bind together. Once a basic shape has been formed, detail, such as features, colour and top coat can be added.
To create a 3D sculpture takes many hours of work and literally thousands of stabs from start to finish.
I use British wool whenever I can, from pet flocks if possible, but be assured that all wool is from non mulesed flocks.
My aim is to capture the essence of the creature and to create a piece that will make you smile.
Please note: These are art sculptures which are intended for the adult collector and are for display purposes ONLY. They are NOT a toy and should not be given to children under the age of 14yrs and definitely NOT to pets. All pieces contain wire, small parts and are a choking hazard.
